The first deadline for the Marketplace Open Enrollment is this Thursday (December 15) if you want coverage to take effect January 1st. Open enrollment – which runs from November 1, 2016 to January 31, 2017 – is the one time of year when you can add or switch your health insurance coverage. Make sure you have reviewed your options before it’s too late.
Important deadlines for 2017 enrollment:
- December 15, 2016: Last day to enroll in a plan that will begin January 1, 2017
- January 15, 2017: Last day to enroll in a plan that will begin February 1, 2017
- January 31, 2017: Open Enrollment ends – last day to enroll in a plan that will begin March 1, 2017
If you don’t enroll in a plan by January 31, 2017, you can’t get health insurance for 2017 unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.
