Medicare Supplement - Medigap

There are ten standardized Medigap plans available in the United States, known as Plan A through Plan N. Each plan offers a different set of benefits to supplement Original Medicare, the federally-funded health insurance program for seniors and some disabled individuals. Plan A

Plan A: This is the most basic Medigap plan, covering the core benefits of Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) and Part B (medical insurance). These benefits include inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and some home health care.

Plan B

Plan B: In addition to the core benefits of Plan A, Plan B also covers the Part A deductible and some additional medical expenses, such as the first three pints of blood used in a medical procedure.

Plan C

Plan C: Plan C offers the same benefits as Plan B, but also includes coverage for Medicare Part A’s hospice care coinsurance and copayments, as well as the Part A deductible for hospital stays longer than 60 days.

Plan D

Plan D: Plan D covers the same benefits as Plan C, but also includes coverage for the Part B deductible.

Plan F

Plan F: Plan F is the most comprehensive Medigap plan, covering all of the benefits of the previous plans as well as the Part B excess charges (fees above the Medicare-approved amount) and foreign travel emergency care.

Plan G

Plan G: Plan G offers the same benefits as Plan F, with the exception of the Part B deductible.

Plan K

Plan K: Plan K covers 50% of the Part A deductible, the Part A coinsurance for hospital stays longer than 60 days, the Part A hospice care coinsurance and copayments, the first 50% of the Part B deductible, and the Part B coinsurance or copayment.

Plan L

Plan L: Plan L covers 75% of the Part A deductible, the Part A coinsurance for hospital stays longer than 60 days, the Part A hospice care coinsurance and copayments, the first 75% of the Part B deductible, and the Part B coinsurance or copayment.

Plan M

Plan M: Plan M covers the same benefits as Plan A, with the exception of the Part A deductible. It also covers 50% of the Part B deductible and the Part B coinsurance or copayment.

Plan N: Plan N covers the same benefits as Plan A, with the exception of the Part A deductible. It also covers the Part B coinsurance or copayment, with some additional copayments for certain medical services.

Plan N
