Don't Wait Until Later to Learn About Your Florida Medicare Options

If you wait, you may have fewer choices and you may even have to pay more. If you’re approaching 65 or have otherwise recently become eligible for Medicare, allow us to help customize a plan based on your needs.

When shopping for Medicare plans, it can be easy to focus only on the premium amount. However, it is extremely important to also look at how much you’ll spend on cost sharing (deductibles, co-payments and co-insurance). Sometimes a plan with a lower premium could cost you more because it has higher cost sharing for the services you use.

Remember that Medicare plans can and do change from year to year, so it is important to have a local and licensed insurance broker whom you can trust to help with your Florida Medicare choices each year.

The Parts of Medicare

Option 1: Medicare Advantage

Option 2: Medicare Supplement and/or Prescription Drug Coverage

Getting Started With Medicare

Step 1: Sign up for Medicare

Enroll in Original Medicare (Parts A and B) when you become eligible.

Original Medicare is composed of both Part A and Part B and is provided by the Federal Government.  Part A helps to cover some of the cost for inpatient hospital stays and Part B helps to cover some of the cost for outpatient medical services.  However, Parts A and B do not cover all of your hospital and medical expenses and they do not include coverage for prescription drugs.

Step 2: Choose your Coverage

If you need more coverage than Original Medicare (Parts A and B), there are 2 main choices:

Option 1: Medicare Advantage (Part C) which provides a single plan that combines Parts A and B, adds additional benefits, plus prescription drug coverage if you want it.

Option 2: Keep Original Medicare and add Medicare Supplement Insurance and/or Prescription Drug Coverage (Part D).
