The deadline for enrolling in an Obamacare plan is just one week away (December 15) if you want coverage to take effect January 1st.  Open enrollment, which runs from November 1, 2015 to January 31, 2016,  is the one time of year when you can add or switch your healthcare coverage.  Make sure you have reviewed your healthcare options before it’s too late.

Important dates for 2016 enrollment:

  • December 15, 2015: Last day to enroll in a plan that will begin January 1, 2016
  • January 15, 2016: Last day to enroll in a plan that will begin February 1, 2016
  • January 31, 2016: Open Enrollment ends – last day to enroll in a plan that will begin March 1, 2016

If you don’t enroll in a plan by January 31, 2016, you can’t enroll in a health insurance plan for 2016 unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.
