The Medication Use Safety Training for Seniors program was launched by The National Council on Patient Information and Education (NCPIE), working to promote and improve communication on the appropriate use of medication among America’s older adults.

Americans are living longer and better than ever, due in large part to advances in medicine which have led to earlier diagnosis and improved treatment of conditions. Most people age 65 and older have at least one chronic condition and likely take multiple medications.

MUST for Seniors is an online educational campaign and workshop designed to promote safe and appropriate medication use. The interactive program provides tips for:

  • Taking medications safely
  • Avoiding medication misuse
  • Recognizing, reporting, and managing common side effects
  • Preventing medication errors and potentially dangerous interactions with other medications, food, or alcohol
  • Feeling more confident in safely using medications

MUST for Seniors can be used by older adults, caregivers, and healthcare professionals for self-education and to present this information in their communities.
